Hi, I’m Robin.

I thought I would feel better if I would just… go on a run every morning, eat better, take more bubble baths, stop drinking coffee…

Those things did help me feel a little better, but I often set unrealistic goals around them and never addressed my underlying stress.

Does this sound familiar?

I have worked as an advocate for survivors of abuse and in wilderness and residential treatment. Additionally, I served as a non-profit administrator and director. One thing I learned in these roles was that my cup was rarely refilled by just [insert self-care action here] at the end of a hard day, week, month…

My stress was not helping me be the person I wanted to be. Seeking out support and learning about my body’s responses to stress and trauma helped me to be more resilient and connected to myself and others.

It is hard to believe things can be different, but they can!

I am happy to offer counseling services and support to those of you who find yourself in a similar struggle. You deserve to get at the heart of the issues that are weighing on you and move through them. Together, we can change what “normal” looks like and thrive.

ANTI-RACISm & Oppression Work

I have always wanted to help others, but it has taken time to shake my old understanding of “service” that I now see was grounded in White saviorism and guilt. Fortunately, many patient teachers and mentors helped me better understand that my work is to be continuously in reflection and to take needed action that does not always equate to being just a good or kind person. The work is also to put other people’s humanity and dignity before my self-interest as a person with many privileges.

My goal is to help make counseling a space for people of all identities to feel seen, heard, empowered, and welcomed.

I come to counseling with social justice and feminist lenses. I am open to both change in my field and in myself.

What does this mean for Counseling?

  • I understand that people are impacted by layers of oppression that I do not always recognize.

  • I am committed to continued learning about my own identity, Whiteness, and how I contribute to policies and systems that harm others.

  • I will challenge my own perfectionism and comfort to stand up against injustice or take accountability.

  • I will advocate for policies and system changes that honor the humanity and dignity of all people.

  • When I do not understand, I will ask questions and look for ways to learn more.

  • When I misstep, I will apologize and seek ways to reconcile our relationship.

  • We can talk about race, religion, gender, sexuality, politics, etc… I will hold space for those interested in talking about Whiteness, White fragility, privilege, and guilt.

  • I will not “cancel” anyone.
